FRATERNALISM and PARTICIPATION
What do you consider when you
think of our Moose Lodge? What is
foremost in your mind? The friends, the
food, the bar, the games and the weekly
activities seem to be on top of the list for
Members who attend most often. How
many of us consider the benefits of our
Moose Membership outside the Lodge?
Those benefits and programs are far too
many to list here. MooseIntl.org the
Moose International web site details our
benefits with everything from the Moose
Visa Card to discounts on prescription
drugs and life insurance. One of our new
Members recently saved over $100 on
prescription medicine using his Moose
Member discount program. Members
who do not use on-line services can find
these details in the Moose magazine
that comes out quarterly to all Members
in good standing.
We mention these additional benefits
of Moose Membership to remind
every one of the fraternal aspects of the
order. It is the strength of our numbers
that make the benefit packages available
to us. These benefits are a wonderful incentive
for people to join the Moose,
along with the opportunity to meet and
participate with others in Lodge activities.
When a prospective Member joins
the Moose Lodge he learns about Moose
Haven and Moose Heart. He pledges an
obligation of membership that we help
grow the membership roles by sponsoring
our family and friends into the order.
This obligation is second only to paying
our yearly dues. In the day to day routine
it is easy to forget why the Moose
Lodge exists. Although the Lodge is
many things to many people, we should
never forget the purpose of the organization.
That is to support our charities,
Moose Heart and Moose Haven.
The relationship between the Members
and the Lodges, Moose International
and the Moose Charities are dependent
on each other. Our dues and donations
support Moose Heart. The organization
supports the Members by sponsoring
group activities on a national scale
and the many discount packages available.
The money we spend at our Lodge
maintains the place we meet for fun
with our friends and family. One cannot
exist without the other. By participating in Lodge activities and sponsoring new Members each
existing Member can do his and her part to grow the
order and support our charities.
There can be no greater satisfaction than knowing
when we support our Lodge and participate in Moose
programs. We are making life much better for the children
of Moose Heart as well as enriching our own lives
in the process.
