Moose International 121st Annual Convention(21 May 09)
To see more photes of this event click.
Here I arrived in Chicago on Thursday, May 21st after a short flight from Greensboro. My trip from O’Hare Intl. Airport set the tone for the week with busy highways and
tall buildings. Meetings began Friday at 2:00PM with the 5th & 8th grade promotion exercises for Mooseheart Child City & School at the Sheraton Hotel. The Ball
Room was packed. Each day there were at least 2 meetings with the last usually ending after 10PM. Each meeting was interesting and informative. I have the complete
agenda and meetings ordered for the Lodge and they will be placed in the Social Quarters upon arrival for review and follow-up to the many changes of our bylaws that occurred
at the Annual Convention. My days were shared with our WOTM representatives which brings me to our trip to Mooseheart. Graduation
was supported by a field house full of Moose men and women from throughout our Fraternity. Christy and I were lucky to receive a guided tour of Mooseheart and
were able to stop and take pictures at our request. NC house is beautiful and we were able to talk to a graduate about her stay at our Child City. Mooseheart is an
unbelievable place for children to obtain respect for God and Country. Christy will share with our Lodge a photo album of Mooseheart and I’m sure you also will recommit
to the Loyal Order of Moose as I have.

Halloween Dance and Costume Party

Everyone had ghoulish time hanging out with friends in their favorite costume.
The New Kids room has been moved and is now ready to use. Thanks to all the volunteers who helped on this project. We would like to give a special thanks
to Helton and Stacey for the painting they did on the room. Also to Vickie Corthum for the great art work that she did on the walls. A thanks also goes out
to Bobby Harrelson for donating the tv. It is because of people like this that we continue to provide a great place to dine out and socialize with good friends.

Nutshell Review from Convention Delegates

We were happy to be one of the stops on Kville Moose lodge poker run.
44 bikes arrived with around 80-85 people. They ate and drank in the social quarters for
about 45 min before heading back to Kville for finish of their poker run. The event ran smooth
and we hope to do this again in the future.

The first Cruise In was held on Sat Jun 6th, it was a success. We had serveral people bring in their cars and show them off. This will be a monthly event on the first Sat of each month. However, next month it will be held on the 2nd Sat (Jul 11th) due to the lodge being closed on Jul 4th. So, please come out and enjoy this event and socialize with great people.
Community Service

Saturday morning 18 members of Greensboro Moose Family Center gathered in the Lodge parking lot to pickup trash along Blakeshire Road and around the Lodge property. Community Service Committee Chairman Mike Corthum organized the event. Regular pickup has greatly improved the appearance of the neighborhood, as well as made the job easier and faster to complete. A breakfast of sausage biscuits, orange juice and tomato juice was provided by Mike and Vicki Corthum, Entertainment was provided by Allen Lambert and Steve Kirby, supported by several more goofy members.
Thanks to all who helped: Ed Evans, Helton Shaw, Kyle Harris, Steve Kirby, Bonnie Harris, Mike Corthum, Vickie Corthum, Alan Lambert, Paul Martin, Steve Allred, Charlie Dwiggins, Doug Anderson, Brett Best, Julie Combs, Eddie Dykes, Mac Hicks, Pete Farster and Gretchen

Officers Attend Training Seminar
Eight new Officers from Greensboro Moose Family Center attended the New Officer Training Seminar hosted by New Garden Moose Family Center on Saturday afternoon May 2nd. They received study materials and listened to experienced Moose volunteers explain the proper and correct way to manage a Moose Lodge. This wealth of knowledge will be put into use at our Lodge to improve the services we provide to the members and help make Greensboro Moose Family Center one of the best Lodges in the Moose organization.
